It all started with a handful of wildebeest. In a quest for fresh grass, they begin an endless journey, stopping in April for their mating (known as the rut) and continuing northwards from Tanzania's Serengeti National Park into Kenya's Masai Mara, returning to Serengeti in February to give birth and move northward to start the journey again.
Following the rains and multiplying to more than 1.6 million in number, the cycle continues. They face dangerous river crossings, an assortment of predators and endless peril in a search for greener grass.
You can join this excitement with our Migration Safari.
